I have had this issue with Dark Engine games with the mouse acceleration being active only for the Y axis but not the X.
The issue is like this, on the mouse x and y axis, the Y axis sensitivity was fine, but the X axis was less sensitive, which really annoyed me, so I had to go into the game files to modify this. It's been a while since I used Newdark, so it seems these options are now vmCenterY in the cam.cfg file. There is no wmcenterx, just y.
Now obviously, I just make a copy but replace the y with x, and it works! The problem is that it for some reason gets erased from the document and then it goes back to only the y axis being accelerated. At this point I am not really willing to keep putting a line of code each time I want to play Thief.
Is there a way to keep this in the file without the file "resetting", so it stays there for the entirety of the install? I'm sure there is a trigger for the reset, just I don't know what that is...
Any help will be appreciated. I can't wait to get back into Thief once I get a new PC.

I have x and y values in my cam.cfg, but I don't think you need to use those. In user.bnd I found something that looked much more promising:
mouse_sensitivity 8.00000000 (set with the slider in the game's menu)
mouse_sensitivity_y_scale 1
mouse_sensitivity_use_aspect 0
It may also help to go in game and save the current keybinds so if you ever make changes and then reload, you'll keep the mouse values.

I will remember to do that, I had a feeling that was the case.
The user.bnd thing you mentioned is what I used to use, I only have USER.cfg but that may be because I haven't configured my keys yet in the fresh install from GoG.
I had to put in mouse_sensitivity_x_scale 1 in addition to Y, but that value always disappeared. It really made turning around much more comfortable which is why I need it.
I will reply to this thread once I try saving the bindings.
