So i´ve been trying to find info in the net how to know when i film scored by imdb has a positive or negative score, these doubts come to me when a movie is rated between the 50% and the 60%, because for example in rotten tomatoes site, a movie has a positive score only from 60% to 100% , but in IMDB how do i know a movie has a positive score?

When you're on your page, click on the number of votes underneath the overall scoring, and it'll give you a breakdown of the ratings.

thanks Renzatic, i found this info there: Arithmetic mean = 6.0. Median = 6, so that means the only from 6.0 can a movie be considered positive?

In simplest terms, I'd consider 6 to be a merely average movie. The group consensus is that it's not terrible, but it won't blow any minds.

i found this site that has its own interpretation of rating : (
https://www.cs.ubc.ca/~davet/movies/index.html) https://www.cs.ubc.ca/~davet/movies/index.html.
So any movie between 5.0 and 6.0 is considered acceptable???

I know that their algorithm gives more weight to reviewers who don't just go slapping 1 or 10 onto everything, but even still - I run on the assumption that if it's around 8.9 and was released this year, that it's 'not bad'.

Yeah, I'd agree with that guy's interpretation of the ratings scale. A 6 and a 7 has redeeming qualities, but something keeps it from being truly great. Enjoyable, but not mind blowing.
Though I also noticed that the average IMDB voter tends to skew their ratings based upon genre. Like it's a rare, rare thing to see a horror movie rate higher than a 6 there, even if its regarded elsewhere as being particularly good.

I thought IMDB actually calculated less-than-zero review scores for a moment. What movie could possibly score in the negatives, I wondered.

IMDB ratings are a funny thing. It pays to game the system a bit. For instance, if I think a movie is a solid 8 out of 10, but the users rate it around 6 or 7, then it makes sense for me to rate it 10, to move its rating further towards the mark I believe it should have. Which is a faintly ridiculous situation.

There is also (
http://www.metacritic.com/) Metacritic which uses a three level (boo / meh / YAY) rating system.
