I agree. The community had already added its own content. I can see locking spam threads and editing out any links, but deleting them just seems unnecessary, especially when content has been added.

I think it also has some thing to do with various tender religious sensibilities? We might be a thick-skinned bunch when it comes to matters of faith and organised religion, but other people might not be. Which can be a recipe for comedy gold I'm sure, but also, at times, for ugliness.
