Hey all, I've been on a nostalgia gaming run lately loading up some oldies through DosBox. Unfortunately I don't know how to get sound from both Ultima Underworld games.
I try to enable sound within the game but I'm unable to do so.

http://spidermine.com/Screenshots/UWsound.JPG I'm running DosBox with the D-Fend v2 frontend. I've tried running UWSOUND but it only pops up for a second then dissapears.

You need to invoke UWSOUND from the command line. What card, OS are you using? If your running NT, W2k or XP Pro then VDMSound is the obvious solution.

Running WinXP with a SB Audigy. When you mean invoke UWSOUND from the command line do you mean adding a -UWSOUND parameter to the .exe?

No, it just means you need to bring up a DOS shell, and type "uwsound". Double-clicking on the icon from Windows won't work (as you observed).

Turns out I had to run UINSTALL then I could choose my sound setup. At first glance I thought it was "uninstall" so that's why I never ran it in the first place :P

Which operating system are you running there mate? (XP, WinME, 98 etc.) NT based OS's can get away without having to do any configurations if you install VDMSound.

Running XP here.

Pro or Home?

Pro. Does it matter in this case?

VDMSound is for NT based OS's such as XP Pro. Install (
http://ntvdm.cjb.net/) VDMSound and you shouldn't have any problem with getting sound to work in dos games anymore (well, at least most of them anyway). Works a treat for the underworld games.
