Read my thread 'Daedric Weapon of your choice...'; not only will you gain directions to cave which will allow you to acquire a daedric weapon of your choice but also the cave is FULL of raw ebony which is worth quite a bit (but remember raw ebony is quite heavy).
Make sure you read my report at the bottom of the thread as well as the information at the top.
Hope this helps :)

The easiest (and with the least risk) way to make money is to make potions and sell them. You can "borrow" master level alchemy equipment from the Mage's Guild in Caldera. With a little investment in some "Crab Meat" and "Small Kwanna[sp?] Eggs", you'll make a fortune in no time as well as upping your alchemy skill.

Don't forget that you can make the Philosopher's Stone that you can then use to make either a 'invulnerability potion' that lasts for 120 seconds, or to turn any item into its gold value (ie: turn a plain, unenchanted Daedric Dai-Katana directly into 120,000 gold). All you need to create it is a Red Herring and a bit of Faerie Gold.

I would also suggest hitting some of the boxes that hang suspended in the sky. Just stand under them and jump, hitting them with your head. The ones to look for have a big question mark on the side. Frequently, they'll only release one coin before the box turns to bricks, but sometimes you'll come across one that you can hit 10 or 12 times if you time the jumps right.
Oh, and Forsythe, please remember that in the U.S. release of Morrowind, it's referred to as the "Sorcerer's Stone."

I've heard you can read a book in the secret library in vivec city which will mark on your map a special cave known as 'Vivec's fishing hole' which is rumored to be the only place you can catch Red Herring...
