Apparently laptops are spared from the scaling issues, as, based on what I just read, it only affects HDCP compliant displays tethered to HDCP compliant graphics cards. Pretty damn stupid.
One more reason not to buy into the corporate scam that is HDCP.
When I first saw this thread, I thought the author was talking about the ability to have a desktop resolution that is bigger than the physical monitor. Thus, when you move your mouse to a corner of the screen, the desktop slides in that direction, revealing the rest of the area. It is a useful feature that (I think) has also been removed from NVIDIA drivers on Windows. This is something you can also do in Ubuntu easily, but I wish I could do it in XP too.

Well, here's me feeling like a total moron.
I had no idea it was moved out from its own tab. Now, I'm not so dumb that I didn't check every single tab to try and find it - but it's been renamed "resize desktop," and because I was thinking about its use in applications (rather than the desktop) I somehow never made the connect.
Mind you, it's not the same thing (I have to go and mess with the desktop every time I enter/exit the game rather than having the scaling activate on its own) but it's good enough for now and I'm thrilled to have found it.

And now even resize desktop won't work - for a while the scaled the desktop and now even that just stretches the resolution to fit the screen. No idea what changed, but it sucks.
