I don't know where else to put this, so...
If I wanted to edit a previous post, how do I do strikeout text? (Where the sentence has a line running through its middle.)

Put the text between and tags.

Thanks. Could strikeout be added to the GUI? It's very useful for to-do lists and such.

That's a question for Al_B but I'll make sure he sees your request.

OK, thanks.

Okay, you do realize that the strikeout line is a convention used to indicate deletion of text
on paper, yes? Because the printed word isn't generally susceptible to erasing? But we're all on computers here. If you want to delete something, you don't have to indicate it, you just do it. Zap, gone. There's a reason the strikeout has become such a rarely-seen bit of electronic formatting.
Now if you want to maintain a to-do list, that's what checkmarks are for. If you don't want the completed items to be deleted, but rather to remain,
to be read, then inflicting formatting on them that makes them significantly harder to read seems a bit perverse. You monster.

OK, so how do I post a list here that has checkmarks for later editing?

Surely you mean checkboxes, not checkmarks. Unless you want to initially declare everything as done, then go back and undo them.
Anyway, most people are perfectly happy sticking an "X" to the left of things, or just writing "Done" after them, but if you're determined to get fancy I suppose you could whip out the Unicode characters.

Boxes, yes.
Now, that does look stylish. What are the character codes for those?
