I cant seems to be able to climb it no matter how I position myself or jump.

The trick is leaning + mantling.
When you are facing the ledge, walk up until you run into it, then lean whichever direction is away from the central column, and then press and hold jump as you're still leaning.
It's tricky, but once you get it down, it can be done fairly quickly.

And it's not even close to worth the trouble. Do it for the sense of accomplishment, nothing else.

While I would say that is mostly true, the faster you can do it the more stuff is still there when you get to the top. Although at that point in the game it could be argued that there isn't much incentive because one probably has more than enough of the supplies that are at the top. (with the exception of the Ice-pick that is there if you can do it reeeally fast)

Where is that stash, exactly? I must have played SS2 six or seven times, but I never found it (nor thought it may exist). Could somone provide a screenshot or more detailed instructions on finding it?
