How odd. The Thief 1 movies don't play on my PC. - by Severijn

Hi, I'm new, yet I did search on this topic. All I found were issues with the Thief 2 movies. But anyways, allow me to explain the problem.
As a fan of The thief series demos, I thought it was about damn time for me to buy the series, after playing the demos over and over again on nearly every difficulty.
So I bought that Thief 1+2 packet and the Thief 3 budget release.
I happily installed Thief 1 on my old pentium 2 233Mhz wit 94mb ram and a horribly outdated video card, because of the lack of an alternative. The game was exactly as it should be: Everything worked, and it was brought to the last version(I think it is anyways).
Now I also installed it on my main workhorse, a PC with an AMD Athlon 2400+ ish processor and plenty of ram(512mb DDR) and my good ol' trusty Geforce 4 ti4200.
The funny thing is that suddenly, the movies stopped playing. I did a full install, and the game simply skips the movies. Can anyone please help me to solve this, so that I can enjoy the entire Thief 1 experience on this PC as well?
Thanks in advanced
Severijn

I dunno how to fix it, but you can watch the videos on Windows Media Player. It's on the CD I think, in a movies folder. I just minimize the game (press the windows key, it brings up the start menu) and then watch the videos in between missions.

I myself think a similar solution to the Thief 2 movie problem might do the trick. However, I'm not good at messing around with those files.

I did check for stickies, but I must have missed it. Thanks!
I'll let you know whether I encounter more difficulties with this after following the instructions there.

simply try to install INTEL INDEO codec you can find over the net.
It may fix your problem.

I can't prove it, but I did read "Essential Reading from Thief General Discussion". However, after looking at that thread about "our worst fears confirmed" I gave up and posted this thread.

So I decided to play the original games all over again, starting with Thief 1, but an old problem resurfaced: the ingame videos, intro, etc refuse to play. In the past, a friend sent me a file that helped me solve the problem but since then I've gone through a few harddrive wipes and have since lost those files.
I checked the FAQ: You have to reinstall the indeo video codecs.
. .and apparently I am an idiot because I don't understand what the hell I'm supposed to do here. HOW do I reinstall them? All it says about that is that I can find them on the Thief 1 disc . .. but how do I get them?? I've never heard of being able pull something like that off a game disc. I searched through the Thief folders on my harddrive since that was the only thing I could think to do but that didn't help either. :(
