Planning on getting Oblivion this weekend(This is a College Town so I think I may actually have a chance of finding one. Less anklebiters around to snatch them up.), however I'm afraid my laptop may not cut it. As anyone who followed the game knows, the specs are:
Recommended:
3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
1 GB System RAM
ATI X800 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card
Minimum System Requirements:
512MB System RAM
2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
128MB Direct3D compatible video card
My laptop sports 2 gigs of RAM. So thats no problem. It also has the Geforce 6800 Go(256), still perfectly in the recommended. However, my Pentium 4 processor is only like 1.8-2.0 GHz(says ~1862MHz in System Info). Will this hurt my "graphical experience" of Oblivion at all? Or can it be mostly ignored since I have so much RAM and a good video card to boot.

No need to be in the spoiler forum, mate. From everything I've heard, having a processor at 1.8GHz isn't enough. If you had a more powerful graphics card then perhaps, but 2.0GHz is apparently the absolute minimum.
There's been talk about processors on the "Post your Computer Specs" thread, which you may want to check out. I've got a 3.4GHz processor myself, so I don't know how well it would run on a slower processor.

wow, I'm blind, I never even saw there was a general discussion until I clicked on the moved link in the spoiler section. Sorry about that. Reading the other forum makes me realize how obsolete my computer is, but laptops can't be upgraded easily.(at least, I don't think they can). Gonna buy the game anyway, since even though my Processor is in the minimum, my other stuff is in the recommended. So at least I should be able to play the game.

You sure that's a Pentium 4? Sounds like an M.

Your right, just looked it up.
"Processor: Fast Mobile Intel® Pentium® M Processor up to 760 (2GHz, 2MB Cache, 533MHz FSB) with Intel Centrino® Mobile Technology."
as according to the Dell site. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 9300. I hope that's not a bad thing. I really want to play Oblivion at least on semi-decent settings.

A Pentium M at 1.83GHz should be enough, they are better than Pentium 4 with the same GHz.
I'm running Oblivion on a laptop with a 1.73GHz Pentium M, 1280MB Ram, Radeon X300 and it runs decently with low settings.

whew! that's good to know, so my 2.0 PM is considered a bit better than a 2.0 P4 then? Then there shouldnt be any problems. now I just gotta see if I can find a place that carries the game. Checking today. Hope they have it!

It may be playable.
Due to spring break, I got started on my Bro's machine, which has the following specs:
1.7 ghz Pentium 4.
1 Gig Ram, or 756, don't remember which.
ATI 9600XT.
The game is, quite surprisingly, playable. It tends to stutter, especially in new areas or in combat with multiple enemies. I also have to turn all settings off and put it in 640 x 480. But it is PLAYABLE, amazingly

So, boguht the game now and installed it then let it decide the initial settings. I was very surprised when it set everthing for high detail(1440x900). Without getting my hopes up I started a new game, and was amazed that it ran smoothly at such levels. The framerate may have been slightly lower than may be possible, and I was on the non-memory intensive character creation screen, but still prospects look good.
