Last time I played DX, two gas grenades and the Sniper/Assault (don't remember, I believe I had them both - but if not, the former for sure) Rifle worked fine for those guys.
About the augmented operatives: from my experience Anna is indeed vulnerable to flame, Simons isn't (as the charts JC can find testify), Gunther I am not sure about but I think he isn't either.

Marecki, I mean the 3... uh, new ones that are there in visit #2 (instead of jumping into that suspicious well in canal road, just enter by the front door again.) Or *do* gas grenades work against them? Actually, I have never tried gas grenades against commandos. Hm.
But something about "exposed mucuous membranes" and the armor of the commandos tells me that it's unlikely... hm.
As for Gunther, yes, he is immune against fire and plasma. ;)
So it seems that you can either KO the "augs" or set them on fire. Anna can burn, Gunther and Walton can be knocked out.
Now, as Paul is not vulnerable to KO... this looks like an invitation for some experiments with the flamethrower of madness. ;)

Yes, I see it now. The previous time, for some reason, I read "VL #2" as "the second level of VersaLife" (which is indeed correct in case of the guard room :) ) rather than as "the second visit to VersaLife" even though it had been explained by you a moment ago. Me stupid. Duh.
Anyhow, gas doesn't work against commandos (as can be seen by exploding the barrels in the MJ12 bunker in Paris and luring the enemies into the fumes) so the grenades are probably just as ineffective.
Hmm... Have you tried AR grenades?

Hm, I don't know if I had any at that time, but it would most probably be worth a try. The GEP-Gun and advanced heavy weapon skill was too slow for this trio though... often tried, never successful. :(
Besides, I have an assault rifle, but it is well below that stash of heavy weapons. I only keep it so that I can pick up the corpses and throw them down from some towers or into water or somesuch (instead of the "you have no room to pick up the assault rifle"-line.) It just isn't gory enough for this psycho character. ;)
Maybe with some more ballistic shield AUG levels, a ballistic ammo, a decent environmental training, and the dragon's tooth it would be possible to just rush in and stab them one by one...

I was under the impression that gas worked against the commandos, just not very effectively.

I only carry the GEP, for blasting robots mostly. The flame thrower and plasma are mostly usefull for people who like to go around killing everybody. I usually sneaked up and used the prod whenever possible.

The prod is Godsend. Pity it requires ammo though.
Anyway back to the topic, does anyone know of a suitable one to use in the catacombs? Well I'm talking about one that isn't a hazard to the hostages I rescue or myself for that matter. Damn commandos / MiB's. Stealth is such a pain to do in that area but when you're low on everything, I don't really have a choice.
