First of all, a nitpicky note on pronounciation: it's like saying "day-oos ecks" ... not "deuce."
As for your other questions ... I've owned it for about two years. System Shock 2 is where you should look next, or Thief. Different, but equally (at least) as good. :)

Hi oneshot and welcome! I've played it since May 2001, god knows how many times through. Like Ignatios i'd also reccomend System SHock 2 and Thief (i think Thief 2's a bit better than the 1st), also you could try Neocron when it comes out but I dont know whether it's any good. Or you could indulge into the world of deus ex mods and fan made missions. Redsun 2020 and The Cassandra Project look the most promising probably. There are also System SHock type mods, like the one JediKorenchkin's making- 'Shock Project', and also the Thievery mod for UT. All very good. Or you could wait for Deus Ex 2. Anyway have a good time whatever you do and enjoy the forums, ignore all n00b haters ;)

What's to debate? It comes from "deus ex machina," "god from the machine." It's pronounced DAY-us-eks-MAH-kuh-nuh, -nah, or -MAK-uh-nuh.
I started playing it two weeks ago; it came with my sound card. I like Thief a lot, so I'm trying to play stealthy with no kills, but sometimes it's hard to do.
