Sooner than that. There were 12 FMs (same number as OMs) out about 2 months after DromEd's release.

Just to clarify, that was really just my amateur opinion from reading through the forums, I have no idea how easy/hard T3ed is to use.
Understood, and I wasn't directing anything personal in my reply. Was only chiming in to say, "T3Ed is cake, people just need to try and see!" :thumb:

So far, to me, T3ed is more clumsy than Dromed. I could manipulate and place brushes in Dromed FAR faster than in T3ed. However, relatively high detail meshes allow you to actually put together a good looking room in T3ed probabaly faster than in Dromed.
I also think a turnoff is the whole idea of static meshes. It can feel so very limiting - you can ONLY use these meshes, like giant set pieces, to get good detail! Yes you can create your own, but that's extremely advanced compared to just editing. It's similar to making your own objects for Dromed vs just Dromeding, yes it's doable to learn modeling but it's far more difficult than just using available models.
I think that's not all completely coherent, just some ramblings. I would say that T3ed is seriously growing on me dispite some negative sentences above. I really like how well the physics of meshes work in the game, for instance, and the lighting engine is pretty nice to work with (at least to me so far). There are a lot of basic type meshes such as various length and size wood beams, so you can use a lot of them to make relatively unique looking areas and escape from the "I can only use these few specific-usage meshes" feeling.
Anyway, ignore all that. I'm glad we have T3ed and I hope more people start getting more excited about it too! :thumb:

The only thing I ever managed to do with Dromed was to build a model of my computer room. I was pretty damn proud of it though.
Being a newbie, I'm not sure I understand your problem with the static meshes, Komag. What's wrong with having more of them? Shouldn't it be possible to use the level geometry to build anything that you could have made in Dromed? Or is it just that it wouldn't look good enough using the new engine?

More meshes is good. What I meant is that it's hard to make more, so we're stuck with the one's they gave us, and it feels limiting sometimes.

At some point I'm going to have to sit down and start seeing how easy it is to get 3dsmax 6 models into TDS (I can already use 3dsmax, thankfully). Then I'll start making some static meshes of my own!
I probably won't have a level to use them in, but I guess that's what I have the rest of you for. :joke:

Regarding the original question:
Have faith, people. Think about null's rumored The Grave level that may be secretly in the works. Look at what people like rujuro and Ghandaiah have accomplished so far, to name but a few. Consider the implications of Zillameth's fire elemental, the reworked Assassins, all of New Horizon's efforts, and so forth.
Things may look bleak right now, but that will change once some of the aforementioned are put together and released. Patience.

Yeah, come on! For all it's minor flaws, TDS is still more than capable of having great levels made for it - any engine is, really, even within the limits. Just be creative - personally, I enjoy a short, snappy and well executed fan mission to a long, drawn out and boring one.
Go for the atmosphere and do something original. Looking forward to the contest entries, too.

Still, it would be a travesty if T3 FMs just died after all the work that was put into getting the editor released. :(
Shudup your making me cry :nono:

Even so that should be not an argument to force using it. But somehow I doubt this will happen, no matter how crappy it is. I'm not really qualified to judge this since I haven't used it so this is just a hyptothetical "crap" and not meant to be insulting.
