Yeah, really. This is turning into an eulogy.
Go start up the editor. Make a map. Make it fun. If you want to keep it simple and produce it fast, use standard AI, textures, scripts, sounds. It's not so hard. :)
A contest to kick things off is reeeeaaaallly begging to be on. If Komag's isn't announced soon, perhaps one of us will organize something simple and quick...............

The biggest problem with T3 was the fact that everyone went in wanting to tweak and change everything they possibly could instead of just going in and making a few good FM's.
Yeah, the editor does have a few annoying limitations, but with good story and level design you can push them into the background where no one will notice them.

From over at the Keep, it sounds like Komag wants to finalize his tutorial before kicking off the contest, so it might be a while. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)
Therefore, I propose we start a quick 'n dirty contest in the meantime. Anyone game? If there are enough interested people (say, at least 5?) then maybe I'll start a thread with the very simple idea I'm thinking about.

Not sure if anyone noticed this.
In the DX2 "Content" folder, there is a zip file called TriggerScript.zip that contains all the trigger scripts for the game.
I don't know if this would be of any use to the community since DX2 and T3 are pretty different games but the thought occured to me that there might be some things in there that could work if they could be merged into the existing T3 triggerscripts.
....you never know.
Here is a link if anyone would like to download them and experiment.

I'd consider joining up for a beauty contest or something.
Has anyone figured out how to package maps so people can play them without the editor yet?

I'd be up for something like that, too.

I've been working on my tutorial recently, some good progress, I'll be posting an update tomorrow. Hopefully the contest will start in a month or so! :thumb:
I agree that complex customizing modding stuff is excruciating if even possible, but basic fun missions using existing assets is not too bad at all (although you must basically design your geometry around the meshes in order to make everything fit and behave properly!)
