Artemus: Garrett, I'm here against the Council's wishes. I'm here as a friend, Garrett.
Garrett: I've already heard that.
Artemus: Ahh..Garrett, there is something you need to know.
Garrett: Yeah?
Artemus: Can I speak then?
Garrett: Oh, get over it.
Artemus: It is time for you to know what happened to your father.
Garrett: My father is dead. I've never known him. He vanished into the shadows when I was just an infant.
Artemus: I am your father, Garrett.
Garrett: I see. Well, at least now many things have a sense. That's why you saved me so many times.
Artemus: Yes. You have more friends than you know.
Garrett:  ...momma?

LOL
People there is a parchment in the Keeper Library or compound telling us that Garrett left the Keeper's in his early twenties.
Edit: spelling

And here it is:
"Garrett studied with us until his early twenties at which time he was offered the chance to proceed with the Indoctrination Ceremony and become a Keeper. However, he lacked balance and instead expressed his intention to leave. The council voted we deal with him using the Enforcers, until Caduca informed us that Garrett was essential to overcoming difficult times ahead. And so our most promising acolyte left us."
It can be found in Forbidden Library.

I was really p*ssed off when I found out Gamall killed Artemus myself.
After that, the statues and Gamall herself weren't nearly as frightning.

Remember the scene from teif2 where Caduca and Gamall sing of the sanguine Metal dawn? There (presumably Artemus) says to one of the keepers "Yes, Orland, he heard what you said..." .
So this means:
Quote:
In Thief 2, it is still Artemus that warns Garrett of Truart's plan. And even if he sounds a little bit differently, Nate Wells is once again credited for his voice. The other ones are Ian Vogel (("Find the humour if you must, but can you tell me truly Garrett? Are there any trees in your part of town?") and Daniel Thron ("Have you heard the Interpreter's words?").
..That Thorn was Orland in T3 too?
(I've tried to memorise the tenents of my faith (Thief 3 End Credits), but alas! I can't recall if the above holds true! :tsktsk: Help a friend, will you? ;)

Its been a while since I've played any Thief game, so I'm probably gonna say something stupid :eww: Oh well...
Anyways, in the video for the training mission in the first game, I noticed it showed the ring on the Keepers hand. Then in Thief 3, you have to steal a Keepers ring from Artemus' room. That was kindda the connection for me. I suppose every keeper could have one, but then why would you have to steal it specifically from Artemus?
Meh, my two cents anyways :p

Actually, I cried and my mouth was hanging open in mute horror.

May I express some of my opinions?
I can't quite define what is the relationship between Garrett and Artemus, are they some sort of 'friends' within the Keepers?
In T2, the 1st cinema cutscene, Garrett was cleaning his mechanical eye when two Keepers came to his home and asked him to go with them. At first Garrett demanded them to leave, but when Artemus spoke, relunctantly, Garrett still listened to him and went to the Keeper Library.
In TDS, the cutscene in Gamall's Lair, Garrett and Artemus were discussing about the Artifacts. I noticed, or merely my imagination, when Artemus said that he would go to speak to Orland, and before he said what Garrett should do, Garrett cut in and said that he should break into the museum, with a very very tiny smile.
It seems that Garrett only listened to Artemus. So I guess Garrett was a little bit sad when he knew that Artemus ended up losing his skin for Gamall.

Artemus was not only the man that brought Garrett to the Order, but also, he is the man that actually trained him. So even after all those years and despite Garrett's unique ability in the Keeper ways, Artemus is still able to outsneak him :) Or at least he says so and I think so. ;)
Yes. Remember some scenes when Garrett quietly goes away and Artemus then says "Garrett?.. Garrett?.." He even couldn't notice how his apprentice had escaped... And in this scene in Gamall's Lair Artemus does the same with Garrett, proving that he still has something to show.
I really liked this idea, and I was very upset and frightened when Artemus died.

Agree with you, d'Spair.
Speaking of Artemus, when I first finished the museum mission, Garrett got out and saw 'Artemus' coming towards, asking for the Artifacts. I noticed that his voice was...whatyousay...double vocal (Poor English, sorry), as if two people were speaking at the same time, and his voice was a bit different.
I knew something was wrong, but I still couldn't figure out what was going wrong, until Orland was suddenly lifted up killed by 'Artemus'.
I couldn't accept it for nearly a minute. Artemus was dead? HOW COME?
