by playing demon's souls instead

I'll probably be doing about the same thing. While I'm interested in Thief, I won't be picking it up right at release. I've got too many games to play through, and Dark Souls II is on its way. That's the one game I'm really, really stoked for. Unless everyone's just flat out nutting their draws over it, I'll probably wait til around April or so to get it.
As for Demon's Souls, the one downside is that it isn't quite as good as Dark Souls. It's alright, but my second playthrough of it has just been...meh. On the other hand, I could play through Dark over and over and over again.
But on the plus side, there aren't any bosses as evil as Ornstein and Smough, so you might actually beat it.

There's too much wrong with it for me to be able to enjoy it, so I won't be playing it.

"Eventually".

I probably disable focus and enable stealth takedowns. Will see about "Slowed Movement", afraid it could be annoying but depends on implementation...
"Impressed" that they combined "No Kills or Knockouts"... Also "Iron man" is funny, I think many would format their drives when killed:)

With extremely low expectations, despair for the AAA gaming industry and an acceptation that my pitiful purchasing power will not change a thing.
I will also switch these settings on immediately
* No Focus: the use of Focus is completely disabled and no Focus Points are earned.
* Stealth Takedowns Only: you cannot perform combat Takedowns and Takedowns from above.
* No Reticle: no aiming reticle is displayed when drawing the bow.
* Expensive Tools: the cost of arrows, tools, food and poppies is greatly increased.
* Slowed Movement: running and walking speeds are reduced.
* No Upgrades: non-critical upgrades are disabled.
I will also have to try and get the shroud modded out.
I also expect to lose my save games and progress a month into playing (if I last that long) when the first patch fixes the day one bugs.

How do you plan on playing Thief?
Barely, it seems. Because many of the counterparts of things that I actually played in the previous Thief games are not interactive. Gameplay means the parts of the game where the player makes choices, solves problems and instructs the system using the controls, and there is a lot less that in this game than in any of the other Thief games.

Really?
I imagined you wide eyed with rage, hair wild with sweat and your constant tugging, fingers and hands working away furiously over the keyboard and mouse as you edge your face towards the screen, closer and closer, mumbling a soft jumble of tight insults as you take it all in slowly, slowly, rising to a growl, then a howl, then one long continuous lamenting wail as you take in the true horror, a screeching non-sustainable wail that fades as you crumple into a jibbering mass of tears and disappointment, your red cheeks burning with the disappointment only a child can feel when his life is irrefutably and merciless changed forever into an endless torment of experiential failures.
I'm disappointed in you.

Based on the info and media that has been released about the game, you'd need to be really, really stupid or with serious mental issues to have expectations anywhere near high enough for that to happen. I wonder how the thought of that being the case even occurred to you.

I'll start by breaking into some fat nobleman's manor, goes by the name of "Bafford", I hear.
