Coming here + other forums (retro remakes etc), reading up on game, mods and emulator related news. WoW is a big time killer also.

I'm doing that thread where you list your daily websites. I need to expand my list and thought I should turn to you guys. For myself I visit :
Reddit.com
Ttlg.com/forums
Tigsource.com
Redorchestragame.com
Irontowerstudios.com
Moddb.com
Hulu.com
Minecraft.net
Forums.unity.com or something
And you still need to
expand this list? You sure are dedicated to actually
kill a lot of time, aren't you.
As for the topic, I try to kill less time on places like ttlg and several latvian forums and so far it's going almost ok.

Forums.unity.com = this is a 3d game engine..There is a free verison of it, too.
I working on my own game through this...
Oh yeah, what kind of game? I played around with it too but the most complex thing I managed to do was to do was to get WASD+mouse control + 3rd person camera on one of the seagulls in the Tropical Island example scene. :p If I could only get the bird to constantly fly forward and just use mouse controll to steer I might be well on my way to making some kind of bird-simulator.

Use an image hosting website that a) doesn't cover your image with ads b) has a direct link to the image.
Other than that, nothing is stopping you from using a custom stylesheet for TVTropes. Here's a simple one.

Come on now, are you telling me that the links in that screenshot are just as visible as the ones here, for example? Besides, I didn't say I CAN'T see them, just that I have to strain my eyes somewhat to do it, which is enough to make reading it a less than 100% satisfactory experience.
Or maybe it's just my 16-bit (actually 18, but who's counting) colour TFT that's causing it, as NamelessVoice pointed out once :p

That site does have a direct link to the image - it's called Right-Click -> View Image, or whatever the option is called in that made up browser you are using :D. Or, you know, the "Nur das Bild anzeigen" link just above the picture. I thought you could read a bit of German?
Anyway, thanks for the css, but if I have to resort to fiddling in order to read it, it means I'm right to bitch about it.
As for other sites to kill time on - (

Well, yes, but I still hold that a thumbnail link should link directly to the full-size image, not to a splash page, and certainly not to a splash page with JS popup ads.
And yes, the links on TVTropes can be hard to see when you're tired or if you are sitting somewhere with glare.
