Sure. Kill Diego, then spend the next seconds frantically running around, trying not to get hit by the bouncing plasma orb ;)
I don't know what I did to survive, first Diego then the bad guys in the center pillar; but I did. Your advice during my progress in the game is very much appreciated. pukey

Stay away from the Plasma Rifle. I only use it for fun every once in a while, but the fact is that the weapon is more dangerous to yourself than to your enemies. Plus, a single shot in its maximum power setting will eat up 80% of your power.
As for that battle, if you stick to the Laser Rapier + Reflex patch + Berserk patch, you won't need anything else. Not explosives, not Skorpion, nothing. Diego will die after 2/3 hits, and the Mutated Syborgs that appear afterwards will die as with a single hit of the rapier. Plus, everything is in slow motion due to the Reflex patch effects, so they don't even have time to hit you back.

I'm sorry to say that I got rid of the laser rapier some time back. Wish I had kept it now. D'Arcy thanks for the advice throughout this game. I'm almost at the end but am sure will run into something where I'll need help from your Forum where there are located some very nice people. pukey

Blasphemy! Burn! Burn! ;)

Yeah the next time I might also keep the laser rapier until the end. I'll probably ditch the rail gun for it, I never used it much.

Argh, the Citadel Laser Rapier is the most powerful weapon ever made in the Shock universe. It's unique, there is only one in the whole game, and it's deadly. Why would people throw it away? Afraid of a little melee combat? With the Rapier, it definitely won't last long.

I also found out the hard way that the rail gun, plasma rifle and mag pulse were not very effective. pukey

If the Magpulse isn't very effective for you, then you're doing it wrong. The Magpulse is one of my favourite weapons in the game.
Please don't tell me that you were using the Magpulse on mutants... ;)

The plasma rifle is also quite useful, I think. Yeah, it kills you a lot, but isn't that half the fun?! And even though it's dangerous and uses a lot of energy, consider these:
- It's powerful!
- It's the only weapon in the game you can shoot around corners and make trick shots with, never mind hitting multiple enemies, sometimes multiple times. This alone makes it worth carrying around.
*Edit*: And yes, the magpulse is great against robots. Cyborgs too, I believe.
My personal favorite arsenal involves the Skorpion, Plasma Rifle, Laser Rapier, and Magpulse, along with the other ol' standbys (assault rifle, flechette, magnum, etc.)
