I killed one of these back on level 5 or 6, using grenades where I was able to open and close a door and each time lob in a grenade. This time the cyborg suddenly appears and so far I haven't been able to kill him before getting killed myself. I'm too close to use a grenade. Tried it once or twice and got killed in the process. Also used just about all my weapons and so far no luck. What weapon will kill this Diego cyborg? I'm at level 8, item 25 in the Official Hint Book. Any and all advice/ suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. pukey

Diego is one tough customer the third time around. If repeated hammerings with your most powerful weapons just aren't bringing him down, have a look at (
http://www.it-he.org/sshock.htm) this for an entertaining method of elimination. Scroll a ways down the page to the section titled "Edward Diego", subsection "On the Bridge". There will be a bulleted list of instructions about this encounter. This technique works against many of the game's traps (such as SHODAN's Death Machine in the reactor level) as a sort of counter-trap. Give it a try and see if it works for you.

Thank you very much for the advice - and the web page, "hackers guide to sin". I just copied the section you pointed out and tomorrow will go to work and see if I can terminate the Diego cyborg, with extreme prejudice. This web page is sure interesting-tempting to the extent that I might play the game on a higher level (playing "normal" now) and use a lot of the information on that page. For example, I didn't know how to use some of the perks, like staminup, berserk, etc. Again my sincere appreciation for providing this information. Will let you know how I make out. pukey

The best and easiest way of killing Diego and the mutated cyborgs that show up alongside him is to use a combination of Laser Rapier + Berserk patch + Reflex patch. You'll see everything in slow motion, and Diego will go down after a couple of hits.

Thanks to Trance and D'Arcy, I finally killed this mean Diege Cyborg. Used 5 mines(everything else I had would explode on contact or after a few seconds), used Skorpion as primary weapon, backed up by Flechette; then took a couple staminups and one reflex - and that did it! Must have tried 20 or 30 times before succeeding. I deeply appreciate the help gentlemen. pukey

Plasma Rifle. Max power.

Sure. Kill Diego, then spend the next seconds frantically running around, trying not to get hit by the bouncing plasma orb ;)

You do realize you can use the other mouse button on your grenades and bombs to drop them without arming them, right? That's how you assemble the trap; place inactive grenades/bombs in close enough proximity to each other for a chain reaction.

Trance, I didn't know this. My ignorance contributed to lots of problems I've had throughout the game. Next time around I sure will remember your advice, which I very much appreciate. Right now I just opened the computer room and am on the way to that last cyber terminal - and SHODAN. All the best. pukey

steo, unfortunately I don't have a plasma rifle. Ran across one earlier in the game and left it. Thanks for the suggestion, which I can use next time I play the game; probably on a harder level. pukey
