I have two swords, one short steel, one long iron. How can I dispose of one of them and which? I also accidentally picked up a broom. How do I get rid of it? If I go on like this I shall finish up staggering under the weight of unwanted junk!
I also have a 'grab' key. Is it of any use? I seem to grab things with the 'activate' key.
Also, once I have aimed the bow, if the enemy moves out of range is there any way to not fire the arrow. Pressing unequip does not seem to work and I have to fire the arrow and lose it.

Shift + left click to drop an item from your inventory. Or left click and drag it out of the inventory box, then you can place it where you like.
I can't recall a way to stop firing an arrow, but if you fire it into the ground at your feet you should be able to Retrieve it.

You can also hold down 'z' and the left mouse button, on the PC version, to take an object out of the inventory and 'hold' it on the crosshairs.

OK, thanks both. Will try it out later...:thumb:

The "grab" button is for moving stuff around in the word. If you use it for instance, on your recently dropped shovel while it's lying on the floor, you will be able to drag it around a bit.
It's clumsy, and can't really be used to decorate your bookshelves (the books refuse to stay put when you approach with the next book held with the grab key), but it's fun for playing with corpses or for basic cleaning up after you accidentally threw items all over the place.
"Grabbing" items that belong to other people infront of their eyes will upset them and might even give you a bounty. I only did it so far one time - I had messed up the house of Modryn Odryn accidentally and wanted to put his plate back on his table. "You filthy thief!" he screamed. I was in extremly good standing with him at that point, so there were no futher consequences, I think.

Mmmm... I'll have to try that again as I did try to grab again but I think I just literally tried to grab (take) and not to drag around. Also, I thought it odd that once I mouse-dragged an item from the inventory to the cross-hair that to drop it I took a wild guess and found I had to use the 'grab' key. So 'grab' really seems to mean 'drag' or 'drop'. Anyway, so long as it works somehow, I've been accumulating too much. I'm normally a Thief player so it takes a bit of getting used to these different controls and style of play.

To move the "grabbed" item around, you've got to actually hold the grab key. Item will float about 1-2m ahead of you then, knocking other items all over the place. When you release the button, the item drops to the floor.
As I said, it's clumsy, and definitely not for bookshelf decoration.
I think or hope that telekinesis is better for decoration purposes, but as mysticism is one of my main attributes and I don't want to levelup, I can't actually try... :p

There's telekinesis? I gotta long way to go yet. I'm still stuck on this 3rd quest in this Mordor-like wilderness...

I've been having trouble dropping some items. In some instances, I get an "There isn't enough room to drop this" error at the top of the screen. Other times the object gets stuck on the crosshairs without me touching any key to keep it there. At this point I was only able to drop items by looking inside a crate or dead person and putting the object into the crate or person.
Edit: Using left shift and left mouse click works for me.
