I am a relative newcomer. I joined when I got stuck in Morrowind (I think the ttlg link was on the UESP site), and discovered CommChat a couple of months later.

PC Gamer UK is entirely to blame. It because of their raving I got wind of two gems called System Shock and Terra Nova and bought them when I spotted them. And then I learned that the people responsible were making a game called Thief, and looking for info on that, I stumbled on The Circle. Eventually, when I finally got the rig to play it, I bought it. Sometime later, I registered. Under a horrible, horrible name that Need Not Be Mentioned. Later, I swithced to this one.

A rather obnoxious wee nephew of the family having being packed up and sent back to his homeland, left not only his thief games here for me to play with, but a very useful link to ttlg itself.

I was stuck playing my "new" game Thief, The Dark Project (not Gold) and was trolling the internet to see if anyone was talking about it. This was just after new years 1999. I have been here ever since (i changed my nic this summer, hence the recent membership date under my name)

I...was looking for a mirror of the T:TDP demo...
I ended up on a strange webpage with a black background and lots of green. I guess they were still in the System Shock theme phase.
I made an account...and only used it a few times. Then I came back a year later, made a new account with my new "alias", and....stayed.

Not sure. Either it was Gray's SS2 walkthrough or one of the Thief loot list sites. Waited a very long time to sign up.

Paz dragged me over because he wanted people in #thief to see Satan.
The bastard :(

Sometime in 2002, a sad thiefsie fool was desperate to create maps for Thief, the way he did for most of his games; so he googled 'Thief Editing', receiving a large amount of unsettling results, eventually he discovered the vast Thief community, the dozens of FMs and ofcourse TTLG.

In the courier mission I missed the part where the guy threw the packet down and instead crossed the bridge- damn that was hard- and failed the mission when the fellow reached another street. Couldn't figure it out because I kept reloading at the after the bridge part. A fortuitous goof as I landed here among you good folks when I searched the net.
That or the voices. I forget.
