Can T3ED do any good at improving TDS itself? How can we mod the game? What are the implications? What bothers me the most about TDS are the following points:
1. Keeper Assassins. They're the joke of the game even if the only thing they need is to be nearly invisible. How can that level be improved? What are the realistic possibilities?
2. Hacking the briefings. The audio is there with Garrett's voice. A custom briefing movie is not impossibile to make at this point, but what are the possibilities of implementing it into the game? Is there any possibility to play custom avi files instead of the mission text?
These questions are addressed to those who apparently have "at least" some knowledge about the limits of the tools and their potential, since they had the possibility of playing with it secretly for some months, as well as to those who are indeed expert users. I'll keep fingers crossed.

About the first one... I don't mean to redo the level, since it is part of the city section, thus it has tonnes of scripts that cover all the 9 days, but maybe there is a way to do it without having to download the whole thing again. Something in the triggers maybe? Properties?

Well ideally you'd want to script it so that the assassins don't randomly kill civilians, maybe make the streets eeriely empty for that map, like people know they should be indoors.
Of course i haven't even began to experiment with the game scripts yet (like everyone else i imagine we're exploring the basics of the editor still and seeing the differances/nuances) it may be very difficult to implement and may require re-scripting of everything!
well you can make movies ingame with t3ed (unless that feature is broken) create the scene and set the filming routine add in the audio and take it from there.
Hmm how many people would be interested in Thief machinma?

as far as hacking the briefings, there's an entry in the properties of the level start icon that tells it to play a video file, so adding that to the rest of the levels should be plenty easy.

hm, i wonder if it'd be possible to make movies like the ones in the original 2 games and have them play before the mission

Well, that was the point of the second point. :ebil:

It amy not be possible to make them exactly like the Rustmonkey movies but you can use the ingame engine to create them -ie use the models, etc.. in game and film them at certain angles, it's like making a non-playable level. Or in the case using it as a misison briefing as editing a copy of your level for movie work.
Ideally i would like a lot more time to explore this concept for T3ED but it's feasible, all i need now is time off work -check (in 3 days) and a spark of an idea - check.
