I checked the box to get email notification on a particular thread but now I've changed my mind. Is it possible to stop getting emails on an individual thread once selected?

You will see something like this:

Click the Unsubscribe link.

Each notification email also contains unsubscription information and two links, one to unsubscribe from that particular thread, and one to unsubscribe from all threads. :)
