Exactly, it appears to be a concession to those who were horrified by the presence of fast travel.

I don't understand the objections to fast travel, as, by using a combination of guilt teleporters, mark/recall's, stilt riders and those other spells for teleporting to temples etc., it was pretty much possible to travel anywhere in 2 pr 3 steps in Morrowind, which in my mind amounts to the same thing without all the fannying about.
I also have to say, how long would it take to play the game through, including all side quests etc. without fast travel? I spent well over 100 hours as it was. Also, what about quests like the lost brothers, where you have to travel half way across the map just to say hi (in effect)?
Some people are just anal.

I guess they felt that those methods were OK as they were explainable in-game, whereas fast travel was 'cheating'.
Bugs on 28/2/2007 at 16:11
Yeah, so they need an actual in game mechanic to do exactly the same thing. All I did is rationalise it by those same said mechanics that were in the previous game.
I dunno man, it's just like, using you imagination, role playing even...

Fasttravel means for me: I mount the horse. Then I ride slowly from A to B. No break in the roleplay immersion at all. :)
To avoid hours of useless horse maneuvring issues (and encounters with wolves), it's far better to do that automatically.

Well, I'm just pointing out that quite a few people disagree.

Horses suck. Not only are they a pain in the ass when it comes to crossing certain bridges, but they can actually get you kicked out of your guild when they see you committing a crime.

I know, I am often a devil's advocate myself, however I am just saying I disagree with those people that disagree ;-)

I think I know the exact bridge your talking about. all you have to do is get off and push
Fidcal on 20/3/2007 at 19:44
Yes but how? That's what I tried and finished up punching the poor nag to death! Ironically I think it was then finally under the pole! :cheeky:
