Str8g8 PM'ed me with an idea to find a way to share textures between texture creators more efficiently. Using the same account may not appeal to everyone but having a special group dedicated to such purpose should be fine. I set up such a thing on Flickr, but if you know some better platform, let me know.

Unfortunately, if you want to upload your work, you'll have to set up an account - which means you'll have to create yahoo email adress if you don't have one.
Generally I'd like to know what you think, is such thing necessary anyway, etc.

Yeah, I think it's a good idea. Easy to maintain and update (as opposed to creating matlibs and so on) which is what I was going to do.
Those without 3dsmax5 can use the blank matlib I created (

I've joined the flickr group and will upload some textures tonight!

So I would want to upload valley textures as well, but I've one question. For most of those textures I used photos from cgtextures.com as source/base. Then I did the usual photoshop/seamless work to turn them into textures.. Can I upload them still without pissing anyone off?

According to the cg rules that should be OK afaik.
At the moment I see more normal maps than textures, are you working right now? And what about BrendaEM's textures by the way; did anyone ever (Massimiliano?) create a matlib for them?

You see more normalmaps in my personal photostream, that's why because I remade and updated all of them. They were badly damaged by DXT compression and looked awful. As it goes for textures, I can make you a matlib for anything you want. I didn't contact Brenda yet, but I guess this is a good idea. Still she'll have to remake her normalmaps or let someone do it ;) Btw. if you want to have some tips for making good normalmaps (without crazybump), this (
http://www.cgtextures.com/content.php?action=tutorial&name=normalmap) tutorial is worth reading (though I prefer a faster method, I can describe it if you want).
Oh, and one more thing, I can't sort anything in groups either :/ So if you add some textures,
add normalmap first and diffuse later, as everything is sorted automatically by date.

oops, too late! I just uploaded some stuff, and yes, it does mix up the order a bit. Not to worry, though, it should be obvious which normal map belongs to which texture (and if not then if you view the information it will contain the original filename as a description).

Nice work :)

Nah, you won't. If you read the licensing terms at CGTextures, you'll see they don't care how you use their stuff, so long as you don't distribute their source photos unaltered.
Anyway, sooner or later I'll have my own textures to add to the collection. I've already started working on a door collection. Got the base geometry on a couple already finished. You can see a preview of what I'm going for (

Looks good, how are you finding modo to work with?

Well, call me lazy or untune or both, I don't want to convert all those valley textures into jpg. :p Instead here's the whole package, with mlb.

Judith, Is there a way to upload dds to this flickr account other than jpgs, or am I missing something else?
