aHAHAHAAHAH, fucking HEART the point break references, I just talked about that in the cheesy movie thread and watched it recently. bloody brilliant. I noticed overt references to Commando, Running Man and Lethal Weapon. For the latter, the reference of the acoustic guitar backing music over the background stories just murdered me.
Also, Carry On were shit. Maybe they were hot for their day but I've never appreciated that mostly innuendo-ridden slapstick. Urgh. Comedy? Right.

Oh man. Such an awesome movie. "By the power of Greyskull!" has taken on new (awesome) meaning. I'm not even sure if I want to see it again theatrically, because there's no way the theatrical experience of this film in my local theatres can match the energy in the crowd at the Fuzztival, which was fantastic, full audience applause at multiple points in the film. Just plain fucking great all the way through. Also:

Alas for the shitty resolution of my camera phone, but those are, from left to right: American Cinematheque MC guy, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and in a surprise appearance, Timothy Dalton in the QA after the screening of the film. Best question response was Nick Frost to the question "What's your favourite cop movie?": "Bad Boys II." (audience laughs) "No, seriously, it's brilliant! You think the movie's over, and then they go to CUBA!" There was a camera crew recording it, so I'm really really hoping that the full QA from this screening makes it to a DVD extra, but I suspect they'll splice together a bunch of different QAs from the other Hot Fuzztivals.
And Edgar Wright, a little bit drunk, coming back to introduce Hard Boiled, was pretty cool, because he kept talking about Hard Boiled, and I got the impression that he could have easily continued to talk about it for the rest of the night. I wish I'd had the presence of mind to record his intro, because it was serious cool film geek stuff.

Awesome, Faf. I heard about the Fuzztival and was mega jealous, and now despite my internal filmometer, I'll force myself to watch Bad Boys II at some stage.
