I gleefully picked up Shaun of the Dead on DVD the other day for a mere five English pounds.
Hot Fuzz time on Saturday :D

I went to see this today and absolutely enjoyed it. It's a really entertaining film and I just kept laughing out loud. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost play off each other well. I love the way they take the piss out of all the buddy cop movies. :thumb:

I've just got back from seeing it and god damn that is one fantastic film. Everyone absolutely must see it now :D

It is indeed ace :) The person I saw it with didn't like it as much as I did due to the excessive gore in places. Now I don't mind a bit of gore, but I don't think it really added anything to the film that a suggestively shot scene without the gore would have, and it alienates some of the audience.
Much better film than Shaun of the dead though, their film making skills have improved.

Saw it yesterday in the Metro centre of all places (so there were chavs throwing stuff), but it's Mint.
Special mention for the sound in particular being noticeably great, if only because I noticed it as the sound effects are not usually something I'd usually pick up on and think "Whoa, nice", especially in a comedy.

Heresy! I liked it a lot but for my money it wasn't a patch on
Shaun. Then again I'm really not into cop films in the same way that I am zombie films, so I'm probably not the best judge.
Bits that gave me a teeny tiny stiffy included:
The drop-kick over the hedge into the old women's face

Danny's brain-freeze

Discussion between Danny and Nicholas in Safeway about the necessity of smartarse quips immediately after cool stunts

The falling masonry on the journalist's head, his head exploded like a pressurised grape
Wow. For me to properly articulate how amazing this movie is, I'd have to go into an indepth litany of my love for action movies, specifically during the heyday of the 80s and early 90s, and speak about how the Pegg-Wright-Frost trio are the most exciting creative minds working in comedy this decade or the last by nailing every specific beat of what made these genre movies great in their own action movie and yet splendidly sending up nearly every convention and cliche from all the best and worst.
But really, all I'm going to say on the matter is that Hot Fuzz is the best comedy of the last ten years, the best parody made since Airplane, and I think we've still got more brilliant work to come from them. I can't wait for their next movie and I am sorely tempted to see this in the cinema again immediately.

I saw this recently, and it was great :cheeky:
I loved the motivation for the crimes.
Before it started there was a trailer for another film starring Pegg, called Run Fatboy Run.

I've got my ticket to the Hot Fuzztival in LA in a couple of weeks. Pegg and Frost and Wright hosting a triple feature of Hot Fuzz and Point Break AND Hard Boiled. Fully prepped for awesome. I wish it were April 7th RIGHT NOW.
