A friend and I are trying to get SS2 working over a LAN connection through a router. However whenever one of us tries to join a game after one of us hosts it, we get a "Join Failed" or whatever it might be. Help would be appreciated.

So you're not on the same LAN? Are you both behind a "router," or just one of you?

probably silly - but make sure windows firewall is switched off - even if it has an exception for SS2 - it still will block the app...
The router firewall should not be an issue as it is a LAN game - just make sure your IPs are all correct and such...

Actually, with MS-DirectPlay, a "router" is a huge issue. There's ways to config around it, but it's not cut & dry. I can tell you how to make it work, but I'm not going to bother before I know the situation.
