We're now at £600 / $856, so we are well on our way. :)
Bloody exchange rate. How about if I ship you guys some of our cheap petrol?

I chipped in too (via paypal). Say, so what happens if we only get 1/2 or 3/4 of the way to our goal? Hate to be pessimistic of course, just curious.
Also, any way to get the thermometer in both pounds and dollars?
I have a feeling we'll reach our goal, can't have David living on donated frozen
tv dinners. How long have those things been in the back of your freezer anyway?
If we get to at least 3/4 of the way there, I guarantee the goal will be met ;)
PS: I think the title I'll want though is Forum god. LOL

Nice thermometer! At the rate we're going, we'll have next year's fees paid, too. We can't have poor David starving to death!

I get my student
loan money in February and I'll chuck in a hundred or so as soon as it gets here.
That's funny! What's the old saying? "Robbing Peter to pay Paul." I guess if the big banks can do it so can you...:cheeky:

thats a fek load on money in such a short space of time...
Does this mean the forum will be more democratic due to the nature of the funding....
David on 28/1/2009 at 18:05
No. They are donations, not shares.

Yeah true David, and who would want to buy stock right now anyway? Although I'm guessing things will be slightly different in that you have to please the donors, but not to the extreme, much like the Public Broadcasting system in the U.S. Of course I could give a s__t less about what's done around here as long as TTLG is still around and usable in a mostly friendly way. I also volunteer for a logging museum and some of the donors give large amounts every couple of years and then proceed to tell us where they want to see the money spent, whether or not it is even practical or useful. I could see where democracy could be a problem ... too many cooks in the kitchen so to speak. Just my two cents.
