Nice, that'll give me a chance to play it.

As someone who has the complete edition on PS4, but only finished the base game.
I liked the story alot, but the gameplay is kinda jank (its technically eurojank lol).

What's eurojank?
Malf on 8/7/2020 at 08:24
Huh, I didn't find the gameplay janky at all. In fact, I found it achieved a lot of what the Witcher games set out to do but didn't quite manage. Examining your target in-depth before choosing to engage is essential for choosing the right tool for the job, and there were many scenarios where they would mix up enemy types, adding increasing complexity.
My criticisms of the game are that it went on for faaaar too long, with too many Ubigame style checklists and icon sweeps, as well as a lot of the NPCs suffering from Oblivion-style Mr. Potato Head syndrome. This was compounded by some bland voice acting for a lot of the characters, with only Aloy herself really standing out.
The story was pretty damn good though, even if the delivery suffered at times.

Yeah, I didn't think the game was janky at all. I wasn't particularly good at it, but that's because it's not the kind of gameplay I tend to be very skilled at. Whenever I got stomped by the tech beasties, it was always my fault, not the game's.

It's a popular colloquialism (I think I first encountered it some years ago on RPS) for lower budget, unpolished AA games from European developers. Eg RPGs by Spiders and Piranha Bytes.
Horizon was a massive budget, polished AAA game. It's certainly not "Eurojank".

HAHAHA, according to insider sources they're doing a PS5 remake... of a 5 year old game. Talk about a cash grab!
Quote:
Our source didn’t elaborate whether or not this was a “built from the ground up” style of remake, however we were told that the remake features an improved lighting system (ambient occlusion, and such), overhauled textures. and better animations, with new character models to match those found in the sequel, Horizon Forbidden West.
To get a better understanding of how the sequel improved over the first graphically, here’s a comparison we did earlier this year – Horizon Forbidden West: A Look at How the Decima Engine Has Evolved Graphically
Outside of that, we were told there is big focus on bringing the accessibility options that the sequel introduced. Different graphic modes will also be available, though that is a given since most PS5 games have a performance, quality, and uncapped performance to take advantage of VRR (variable refresh rate). For gameplay changes themselves, there are some subtle improvements, mostly those being the quality of life improvements the sequel brought. It wasn’t confirmed whether or not we would see flyable mounts, or a glider, though we suppose that is unlikely given to their story related importance in the sequel.

Also a MP spin-off is in the works.

In addition, the MP1ST report claims that Guerilla Games is currently working on a Horizon multiplayer game for PS5 and PC, which matches what VGC reported last year.
VGC understands that the studio has long intended to expand the Horizon series into the multiplayer space. Sources had previously told us that co-op was first planned for the original Horizon game but was ultimately scrapped so the development team could focus on other areas of the title.
Zero Dawn concept art that leaked online in 2014 – verified by VGC – even shows initial plans to have multiple players battle the game’s huge mechanical beasts, in a scenario similar to Capcom [474 articles]" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20221002214133/https://www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/capcom/">Capcom‘s Monster Hunter games.
Sources said that Sony had been keen to include co-op in the game’s sequel, Forbidden West, but Guerrilla decided to save the feature for a future project, which they believed would either be a standalone online spin-off, or Horizon 3.

It seems like quick remakes have taken the place of "Game of the Year editions" and the like. And this particular remake will be good for me, since my PS4 was stolen before I could play the game.

It'll be $70 USD new. PS5 has full backward compatibility and the vanilla H:ZD had already received a 60fps PS5 patch. Pick up a cheap PS4 copy and play that.
The TLoU 2 PS5 remake was a $70 USD cash grab, all that they did was update graphical assets, make the AI slightly smarter, add a bunch of accessibility options(/cheats) and remove the MP component. My point is, we have a precedent set already for Sony "remakes" of very recent games.
Anarchic Fox on 6/10/2022 at 02:32
Yeah, I'll probably grab a used copy. Still, this doesn't seem particularly greedy, as it's intended for people who never purchased the original. I prefer it over the whole "games as service" trend.
