I gotta say up front that I know nothing about level editing and don't plan on doing any (i'll just enjoy the fruits of your labors).
but does anyone to what extent the player movement can be made to work a little more like the first two games? I'm not trying to be a d1ck, but I just could never get used to how first-person felt/moved in TDS. i'm thinking anything from the same control scheme (separate "run" and "walk" buttons) to a similar head bob or "untying" the head camera from the body.
or is all this stuff not even on the table?

Try INI editing.

About a third of the way down is something by Komag entitled "Disable First-Person Head Bobbing"
Is that what you're looking for?

That unfortunately doesn't fix the problems with turning :(

Because, technically, even in the First Person Mode, it's still Third Person Mode. The camera just changes the location. It's hard coded so, NO.

well ... i've even been using the minimalist project and that still doesn't do it for me. i guess what i'm wondering is do the editing tools give you guys the power to do anything drastic, like make changes to the player movement above and beyond the tweaks that were already possible.
i too find that most of the things i don't like about the player movement stem from the body awareness/third person issues.

Once we figure out how to change the animations, we'll probably be able to fix it.
However, given where we are right now, I'd wait a few months before we get to that level of knowledge.

Any devs want to weigh in on whether it's possible to use the editing tools to make player movement more like what it was in TDP and TMA (or remove body awareness/third person)?
