Don't bother with Vexille and Appleseed: Ex Machina (or the original for that matter). Watch Paprika instead (in addition to Millennium Actress and Perfect Blue).
Paprika??????? Never knew about that.. Was this an anime? Here in Italy is a sotf porn movie by that pig of Tinto Brass ahhaahahahaah

Wasn't perfect blue a porn rape movie where i was embarrassed to go to, because unknowingly to me i had a female class collegue in the movie.
"That? Oh i went to the Akira feature".

HAHA, no. You might be thinking of Electric Blue or something.
Satoshi Kon's Perfect Blue was one of the best Hitchcockian thrillers in decades.
EDIT: Ugh, that was sarcasm that I failed to detect, wasn't it?

You're thinking of La Blue Girl. Why I know this is a mystery.

Well unless she was a cartoon character, then no.
Coincidentally it does have the most brilliantly unsettling non-rape scene (and a lot of other really clever stuff that would set the european arthouse scene ablaze).
It's amazing no one's remade it. The whole "Starlet Industry" has become pretty much this film some time ago.

Netflix *still* doesn't have Perfect Blue and I'm on an island where one cannot rent these things...it's very annoying.
So, while we're speaking of Satoshi Kon, has anyone seen Paranoia Agent?
