Is GITS:SAC any less fucking boring than the original movie?
Yup.

Is Vexille any good?
Briareos H on 18/6/2009 at 06:21
It's shit but at least entertaining (pretty effects, fast action, loud music). Chances are that if you liked that travesty that Appleseed is, you will probably like it.

Don't bother with Vexille and Appleseed: Ex Machina (or the original for that matter). Watch Paprika instead (in addition to Millennium Actress and Perfect Blue).

I haven't see Vexille or Appleseed, but all the movies you recommend. From what I read about Vexille/Appleseed they can hardly be compared to Satoshi Kon's work. It's just a different thing, isn't it?

Indeed, Daniel Jackson.
Substanceless shit that are wastes of celluloid (or rather HDD space?). Don't waste your time or money. (It doesn't help that the North American Blu-ray of Vexille has a horrid transfer.)
Just recommending worthwhile Japanese animated films. Satoshi Kon's films have high production values and breath-taking visuals, you don't need to watch vacuous non-sense to see eye candy.

The music is actualy what peaked my interest in it. I heard the soundtrack and it had some pretty cool stuff on it, M.I.A., Asian Dub Foundation, DJ Shadow, etc. I saw Appleseed but to say I liked it would be an exageration. It was decent.
This Paprika movie I had to look up.

When a machine that allows therapists to enter their patient's dreams is stolen, all hell breaks loose. Only a young female therapist can stop it: Paprika.
Sounds like some kind of anime version of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Defenitely on my "to see" list. :)

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Yeah, that was a good one. Have you seen The Science of Sleep yet?
