Another great introduction:

Here is also a brief resume of the first part of the anime serie.

Yeah, the series is pretty fantastic. Can't say as much for the movie.
Me too, but for what movie? That one hodiernal or that one of 1986? For that one hodiernal I agree, excepy by Toki Den (fourth chapter) that it's brilliant.

Is GITS:SAC any less fucking boring than the original movie?
GET THE FUCK OUT.
(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jHnwWXcar0) Mamoru Oshii is fucking God. He took Masamune's meandering, schizophrenically toned comic and distilled it to the basic structure, making 80 minutes of cinematic perfection. One of the finest introspective science fiction films since Blade Runner.
Really, I expected more from you Dethtoll.

he also made the most boring and pointlessly pseudo-philosophical sequel ever. basset included.
(but yeah, the first GITS is ace, though miles below the shirow manga in my opinion)

I don't have to listen to someone who gets his name from a series about an insane anime director working out his mommy issues through religious symbolism.
Fuck the first movie. Seriously. That thing was the most boring, contrived, overrated waste of my time. It's not Oshii's fault, though- the source material is a fucking snoozefest, and there's only so much you can do with it.
Much bigger fan of Oshii's Kerberos saga.

The best anime ever, in my opinion.
No interest in anime, but I collect toys and remember the Fist of the North Star keshi (little Japanese rubber action figures) being quite cool.
Not in the same league of cool as your Italian Gormiti though :D

Yes. Another echo from me for that one.
It's like a cyberpunk cop show. A good one. (you will have to endure a bit of Tachicoma cuteness here and there but you'll live).
The film is tissue thin, bong-smoke philosophy like a more po faced
Waking Life with guns. It does look nice though (It's funny how that came up in the same week as
Equilibrium and
Avalon. I chuck them in the same pile).

I don't know about the original movie being boring. It wasn't incredibly exciting (as I recall; it's been a little while), but I don't remember anything especially dull about it, though at times it was hard to follow.
The two series were awesome, though. Also a little hard to follow at points, but, like Muzman said, they're pretty much an incredibly well-done cyberpunk cop show, and the SAC movie wraps them up quite wonderfully.

Fuck the first movie of Ghost In The Shell??? BORING???
Man, check your brain, maybe something work wrong... Seriously...
't was a great film instead, maybe the second part are a bit more tedious, but it's always enjoyable.
Too bad that Kusanagi was lost in the net, I would like to know where her new little body is ended up...
