Much as I would have wished otherwise, I'm not surprised that the game sold extremely well. Majority of people aren't aware of JK's harmful and dangerous rhetoric.
Still, one positive take away is it's yet another example of how single player gaming is not remotely dead and not everything needs to be a damn live service.

I wish that was the lesson publishers took away, instead of thinking about how much more money it would have made if it was a live service or if there was a Battle Royale mode or whatever the newest train is that everybody's on currently.

Most people, especially those buying the game, will be more than aware of the things she has said, and they mostly don't care or they agree with her.
But regardless, she didn't create the game, so I'm not even sure why her stance on anything is at all relevant.

Because she still makes money from it, and that money goes toward her continuing to speak from a large platform, and she has been used to justify some very harmful policies and actions against trans people.

The money she earns from this game will have zero impact upon her ability to speak out on feminist causes. All things told, it was pretty foolish to make the sales performance of this game into an ideological battleground in the first place.

Okay first, do not mistake JK's hateful rhetoric for "feminist causes". She's not a feminist, unless feminism only caters to her upper-class white cis women friends.
Second, the money she earns from this game 100% has an impact upon her ability to propagate said hateful rhetoric and expand the reach of these kinds of discourses. I'm not sure about "making the sales performance of this game into an ideological battleground", but people who buy it should know what that entails.
This IP is toxic and buying into it has very real consequences. JK literally said she considers her royalties as an endorsement. And she openly associates with folks who organize rallies where citing Hitler is all peachy and fine.
People can buy wizard shit all they want, just don't come and pretend that it's innocuous, because it is not.

Yeah, she's worth $1bn even before the release of this game. She has the means to blaspheme to her heart's content already, a few million more won't make a blessed difference there.
