TTLG's Secret Santa 2016 and the various other gaming gifts I've received (thanks a lot, henke, Jeshibu and Malf!) have added to my holiday mood, together with two days of successful family celebrations that could easily have gone horribly wrong but instead were really lovely.
One of the things that has added to my holiday glow this year: earlier this year, a puzzler called
Stephen's Sausage Roll came out. I think it got pretty good reviews, but it was largely ignored by Eurogamer. This commenter on the site, Neilka, used almost every single review of other games to drop a note about
Stephen's Sausage Roll:

I may have mentioned it a couple of times before, but if you like this then you really should give Stephen's Sausage Roll a go.

I'm less an Owlboy and more of a Rollboy - that's a fan of Stephen's Sausage Roll, the excellent 2016 puzzle game sadly overlooked by this publication.

Second best sausage-based game of the year.
Then, this morning, Eurogamer posted the following - check it out, look at the review and especially the subtitle:

Call me sentimental, but I thought that this was a beautiful, perfectly Christmassy example of trolling your fans while sending them a love letter. *sniff*
Any other random stories that'll warm your cockles?

I don't even wanna think about sausages right now. I ate too much Christmas dinner this year.

Played and completed Firewatch. Great little game. I'll probably give it another go through in the not too distant future to see how different things are based on how I respond to stuff.

Still plowin thru SOMA courtesy of TTLG santas :D Still finding the monster sections tedious but I think I've gotten better at em, managed to lure a monster away with some noises and ran past him. Got to Omicron, and the plot thickens :)

Had a wonderful time this year with the last piece of the Frog Fractions 2 ARG puzzle being put together on Christmas day (it involved a physical button and a launch key arriving separately at someone's place on the morning of the 24th, triggering a secret update to a Steam game on the 25th); before spending the last couple of days finding which game it was on Steam, playing it and then hunting for secrets with the community, all before any news source had picked up on its release.
