I still, after all these long, long years, don't understand why Bill and Opus can't get past the fucking primaries. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY?
Convict on 22/1/2007 at 03:34
Why do ppl think Hilary will beat McCain given how much ppl are mad at the Republicans for the war? Even though Hilary supported the war (to whatever degree), wouldn't the fact that she with the Democrats, who largely opposed the war, give her a large electoral boost?

I don't much like Hillary's "I AM YOUR MOTHER" attitude, nor her support for the war. That said, I am SICK and TIRED of Obama. His much-lauded speech during the '04 convention didn't actually address ANYTHING in reality - it was just a motivational speech, talking about "uniting" and "hope" and other Barney words without offering any solutions to anything. He even claimed that more troops should have been sent to Iraq - as if this was somehow the problem with the war. "Kerry HQ told me to say it" is not an excuse. Also, I find his attempt to play all the race cards at once rather obnoxious - he goes around saying "MY PARENTS ARE MIXED RACE, MY PARENTS ARE MIXED RACE" and then turns around and refers to himself as black. But that gets into a whole separate debate (What is "black?"). At the end of the day, his strength is a huge amount of charisma and the fact that he hasn't been in office long enough to have much of a negative record. But, while obviously intelligent, he's never actually revealed what his solutions or plans about ANYTHING are. Nice speeches aren't going to solve the country's problems. Lastly, his whole "THE PROBLEM WITH THIS COUNTRY IS ALL THE CYNICS" thing bugs me, since I'm a cynic.
Ditto most of this for Edwards.
Basically, I'm going to cast my ballot for the Democrat candidate in 2008 (as third parties simply aren't viable under the current electoral system, as everyone knows), but I'm going to hate myself after I do so, because I will almost certainly be voting for someone who I don't really support.

@ Convict...It has more to do with she's a megalomaniac, complete and utter cunt and has a shrill voice that could curdle milk from 50 yards.;)
@ Aerothorn...you just summed up the probelm with democrat candidates for the last 10-15 years. They don't stand for anything. They just stand against the republican view. Now I'm not saying republicans are perfect. FAR from it. But at least most republicans stand FOR something. You might not agree but at least you know where they stand for the most part.

Well, if you can't stand for things, at least you can stand on things.
