Yes, I am well aware that linkage of random youtubes isn't very conducive to discussion but I just had to share this delightful animation that I stumbled across. It's charming, well done and entertaining - nice little references thrown in there too.

Oh, and it's the first of a six-part series (hopefully)!

Yeah, thankfully.

Years ago, when I saw the trailer for A Bug's Life, I thought that this was the sort of thing it would be. It wasn't a piece of crap exactly, but I was disappointed.
This is just a charming and understated piece, that a few minutes ago I thought would be impossible in the Pixar age, which empties the effects box on every frame of animation.
EDIT: Only reference I caught was the spider's massive overbite, which reminded me of a bunch of animated shorts from Canada I've seen.

I love that! It's so cute. :)
I kind of feel for the spider though.
I give it an over-all rating of "Ehehehe" and "Awwww". :thumb: :thumb:

Cool!
Looked like a nice X-Wing fighters on the Deathstar reference there.

Great animation, thanks!
Who's behind that brilliant piece of work?

It's a pilot for a french animated series. The official producing company is (
http://www.futurikon.com) Futurikon, but I couldn't get a lot of info on their website. This (

I was so impressed that I decided to find out exactly what this is. Turns out that MINUSCULE is a TV pilot co-created by Hélène Giraud (production design) and Thomas Szabo (direction). The show has been picked up and they're currently creating 78 dialogue-less 6-minute shorts chronicling the adventures of the entire insect kingdom. The production company is France's Futurikon and the series is slated to air in the US on Disney Channel. If the rest of the episodes hold up to the quality of this pilot, I think we're in for something special.
EDIT : I thought I knew that name and, indeed, Hélène Giraud is a famous graphist and designer in France. She worked on a lot of animation and movie designs (such as the 5th element), on video games too (Stupid Invaders).
