Got SS2 running on my gaming rig now with alot of help from Strange Bedfellows while the forums were down. Got farther in 3 days than I did in a month on the other pc. Works great and I'm having fun with the game now.
Glad to see these forums back up.

I think the showdown with Shodan in S2 can be nominated for the Briefest Final Boss Fight in the history of modern gaming. Even Prefontaine in Bioshock was tougher.

Really? I suppose if you use ICE Picks on all the consoles it might be faster, but I thought the boss fight in
BioShock was considerably easier.
In fact, I would even go as far as to say it was probably one of the easiest boss fights I've ever seen in a game (from what I can remember, I didn't even lose the majority of my hit points).

Once you hack the terminals, turning her protection field off, her virtual head can take just about 3-5 rounds from assault rifle, if you have standard weapon skill 6 and the rifle is on modification level 2. Grenade launcher is similarly effective and modified shotgun would be as well (didn't try that though).
I always looked with critical eye at this flaw SS2 has, that getting to the chamber of the brain of The Many and dealing with it was quite challenging and thrilling, especially on hard and impossible difficulties. After that I can relax and go through Where Am I with one pointing finger in my nostril, because killing Shodan is a piece of cake. Machine mother greater than her children of flesh? I don't think so.
Take this speedrun for example. Well this is not how people normally deal with her, right, but it shows this easy battle can be done even easier.
