Hi to all the loyal Taffers here.
I've been absent on and off for some time, but never stopped playing the older fanmissions. I really really need to update my inventory with the newer games.
I bought a new PC, but the videocard wasn't able to assist all of these games and fanmissions over the last, well, more than 27 years. I started playing the Thief game with the Dark Project in 1998, later on the other 3 games and the fanmissions when they came up.
The last years I had a lot of troubles downloading the newer FM's and some other things, so I finally had to make a move. It cost me dearly, but I'm glad I did it.
So, it took a lot of my budget, but I had a big PC build, for my normal needs of course, but especially for the Thief game and all that was involved with it.
I certainly want to say a VERY BIG THANKS to my Tafferfriend Nightshifter for helping me out a lot in the last couple of weeks, because I needed to install the DMlL's and a lot of other stuff more. I'm not that technical anymore and he is an expert, also as a builder and more, related to New Dark.
But I'm back again to stay and ready for all of the new and former builders to betatest, if needed and wanted. I so much like to betatest new games.
But I'm having a problem now.
I'm replaying "Lingering whispers" and I got into trouble opening the green warehouse doors, the ones with the codes. All the rest is going as it should be.
So, I looked upt the walkthrough of Ricebug and followed his moves, but still I can't get the doors to open.
How is this possible?
Does anybody had the same problem here?
I wonder.....
Looking forward to replaying that great Christmas game again that was introduced last year!

Nice to see you around, Gloria! You had been using the same PC for 27 years? :eek: Luckily a reinstall of Thief will also get you up to speed on the latest NewDark 1.28.
(Cant help with the FM since I haven't played it)

Hi Gloria, I just started playing this mission so that I could look at the green doors. It seems that they can be opened from the other side of each door. The door with 6877 above it has a control panel down below the main floor, but inside that part of the warehouse. I haven't played enough to know how to get there... (I peeked at it in dromed :o ) but it seems that none of the green doors have levers on the front side of each door. I'll continue to play and see if I can find out how to get to each lever.

No Kubrick, my last computer was from (I think) 2018 of a bit former than that.

There's a number panel you need to use to open up the green doors in the warehouse. That's my problem now. I've been there before years ago, but now I don't get there there anymore.

Been there from the beginning too, Gloria, and I'm on my 4th computer since then (started with Windows95!), now running Windows11. I haven't played much since this Spring but my daughter was raving about some of the latest mission releases, especially the sequel Reflections in Red, so I need to carve out some time over the holidays to go taffing again!! :sly::p

Hi Gloria, I think I am at the
control panel now. When I enter a
code, the electrical wires nearby are energized, but nothing else happens. The wires appear to be damaged, so I'm guessing there is another way into the warehouse doors.Gloria Creep on 19/11/2025 at 23:08

I'll look into the other options mentioned here tomorrow. I was away for two days to Antwerpen in Belgium.
