Hello Everyone,
This is my first game of this nature, so I thought I would come a read some posts.
I never thought this was going to be a game that was to easy, and after reading that one person finished it in 2 weeks is a bit disheartening. I was hoping for a game that would take me months to complete and that I could really play for the long haul.
As an avid RTS, and FPS (Tribes 2 Rules!) player, stepping into RPG is quite different.
So far after 3 hours of play I would say this is a very slow pace type of game and one that requires much reading! I have enjoyed the scenes that surround you and the overall quality of the graphics, but I really have not liked the standard responses from people.
So, I say all that to ask. . . Is the Strategy Guide worth getting for this game?
Does it have any useful information in it that a Newbie might need?
Any other tips (not spoilers) for better gamming experience would be gratefully accepted. :)
Thanks

This is the sort of game you either love or hate. It is good at what it is intended to be, but it isn't for everyone. If you focus all your attention on completing the main plotline, you will probably finish it in a relatively short period of time. But you would also be missing about 85% of the world in Morrowind. Explore, talk to people. Do quests for the various factions. I've been playing for about a month now. My character is currently level 11. He is an Oathman for house Redoran, a Warder for the fighters' guild, Operative for the Blades, Clanfriend to the Ashlanders, and something else which slips my mind for the Imperial Legion. I've also worked a good way through the main plotline, but I'm not finished yet. Of course, I don't play games 24/7. I have a job and a family. So games tend to last longer for me than for more dedicated gamers.

I think I was the person you were referring to...
In 2 weeks I did complete the game, and I became master of seven different factions..
The actual main plot took my level 40-50ish character roughly 2 days to do.
This is/was, however, not my first game of it's nature I've played/beaten... in fact it's probably closer to the tenth one..(Baldur's Gate/ultima etc) And since it's just an evolutionary game(Not revolutionary!), I was pretty much an 'expert' on it before I installed it, in that I knew how to play it and what to expect.(Even though I hadn't followed the game at all before it came out, mind you.)
Yeah, it can take more time to beat depending on how focused you are on it. I do remember a lot of 'wasted' time(Wasted being used sarcastically) where no actual progress was being made.
This is a roleplaying game. Do what you want if you want it to last.
As far as the strategy guide goes, this is counterproductive in terms of length of play. I didn't use it(I don't even have the manual...), so I can't tell you if it's useful or not, but if you want the game to last, I advise you not to get it.(and waste your money on it..) since it's not a 'strategy' guide at all, it's just a walkthrough and some charts pulled out of the database...(official guides != good)
Make some popcorn, run around, and enjoy the game.

Seconded here.
Don't even bother with the main quest for a while; heck, the very first delivery you make, the guy will tell you to take your time. Follow his advice. Join some guilds, read some books, talk to people. You fight for a bit, you may even decide you need to completely alter your character and start over (I did - I was level 16 and don't regret it at all!). I also just liked walking around, seeing all the places even before I technically HAD to go to them.
One guy I know, took a week to just WALK as far north as he could. Just because he could, heh. Had to run from nearly everything to avoid getting killed a lot, but he made it.
Ixnay on the strategy guide! It'll ruin the whole thing for you. Just listen to the people talking, try to pick up on the not-so-subtle hints (Heh, like the telltale "YOUR JOURNAL HAS BEEN UPDATED" - usually means there's a sidequest involved). Go back and reread your journal if necessary, and visit these forums if you're stumped! I haven't found ANYthing I would have wanted to know outside of the game, personally.

apon all that earlier good advice you can also bring in the editor to ehance game play,I have edited all the books I have collected and made my recently aquired club in a certain town a reading room and local pub! (Thrangar's House of History;) it adds a more personal feel of the game.Hell I even went a bought a levitaton potion so I could pretend to steal a banner I liked as I was walking through Vivee It now hangs in Balmora(I wonder if the locals will notice :p ) nah ! just keep moving and everthing will be ok lol.Anyways there so much more that can be done with this game than just the plot.
So theres my tip to you bring the editor into play!
Cheers/Thrangar
