He released his latest album, You Want It Darker, just 3 weeks ago. I've been listening to it a lot, it's one of my favourites of the year, and it's clear the guy still had a lot of great music in him. I guess he's just gonna take all that talent and leave. Goddammit, Cohen. :(

One of my most favourite occupations used to be driving down the motorway singing So Long Marianne at the top of my voice, alone in the car obviously and when there weren't so many cars on the road. I loved his music, that's all.

The irony of the timing of his passing is pretty damned presciently poignant. As I tossed mostly unable to sleep in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, the refrain of this song kept coming to mind -- 'Democracy is coming to the USA' -- and then a day later he dies. Hard to tell anymore if it's coming or leaving, if it ever was here or ever will arrive, but thank you Leonard for expressing its journey so beautifully!
