Hello fellow Taffers, Taffettes and ... Taffees?
(Still working on the lingo there)
It's been a while. Last time I popped in for a visit was when Thief 4 came out, to share my impressions of it. And now, my goodness, has it really been that long?!?
I was reminded of y'all when the most excellent TTLG server (may it live forever) sent me a very warm birthday wish. How very thoughtful of it. :D
Though life has continued on and I don't get much Thief in these days, I still have warm fuzzies for you people. These forums have a special place in my heart, one which no other forum has come close to replacing. Seriously. :thumb:
So, how are y'all? What are you folken up to these days?
As for me, I'm still working on video games and animation at a motion capture studio, House of Moves. Been there almost 10 years now (how the time does grow wings)! In fact, one of the big games we were working on, Resident Evil 7, just released and we even made it in the credits, names and all. In fact, one my coworkers even made it in as a voice actor, which was pretty sweet. To be honest, it's not really a series I follow and it's pretty high up there in graphic content, but I've heard it reviewed well so that's cool.
In a completely different vein, I spend a lot of my time working on animation for a Barbie vlog series on YouTube. Again, not really appealing to my particular crowd, but hey at least it's upbeat and has positive words for girls, so that's cool too.
Thief, and working on some Fan Missions, was my inspiration and I still tell people it's the reason I got into the industry.
Besides all that, I started up my own (
https://creativeandbeyond.com/) website about creativity. You should really (
https://creativeandbeyond.com/) check it out:

Ok, enough spamming! What has this world come to?
Oh, and I've got a non-fiction book (The Endless Creative) about creativity in beta reading as well as a sci-fi novel (Matter of the Heart) being reworked after having gone through some beta reads.
But what I really want to know is: what are you people doing with your fine selves? What Thief-like games do you play? I always like recommendations, a lot of you suggested Dishonored and frankly I found it amazing, probably up there in my top 5. I've yet to play the sequel but it's on my list.
What do you do for a living and do you, like me, still sneak up behind your coworkers and give them the ol blackjack from time to time? :ebil:
Oh, right, that's illegal. I mean, of course, just pretend to bop them on the head with a paper towel roll so as to avoid a lawsuit.
Cheers and warm regards,
Sharga (Aaron)

Great to hear from you and congratulations on your successes! I, unfortunately, don't have much game-playing time so still just test and play Thief fan missions - apart from Dishonored because it's kind of obligatory to play something that includes work from our own ex-members. But I did like it enormously and will get Dishonored 2 at some point. IIRC, the last game I played before getting hooked on Thief was a Resident Evil, 3 maybe? I don't think I managed to do the last bit but I really enjoyed it, despite my failure. There were some slither things, I think. Frightened the pants off me.
Thanks for posting your links and I'll take a look when I have time, which is usually with my early morning tea and slightly later early morning coffee.

Yeah, those Resident Evil games can be pretty freaky, the new one is no exception. Obviously, I don't mind a good scare and actually the scary Thief missions (Fan and OM) remain some of my favorites. I don't think I'll ever forget Inverted Manse or Deceptive Perceptions, nor the RTCs, of course.
