Thats pretty much how all original bands start off. The more friends and family you have to drag along to gigs, the more likely a venue will get you back.

Yeah, the plan was to get them to let us play a saturday night next time, which should be fairly easy now considering all of the 25+ people who came, came for us.
The thing was there were more people than our first gig, but at the first one there were people in the audience who weren't our supporters, and the venue was much smaller so it was much more packed.
In other music related news I'm doing a lunchtime concert at the Purcell Room in London on sunday, 1.15pm, as part of the international guitar festival. So if you like either classical guitar music, me, or a combination of the two, it's a hot ticket.

I never really played attention to Electronica music so "io organic industrialism" had me searching for some.
that is cool man! if you're mostly into r&b, i can recommend some electronic music which will be a good introduction and you should be able to get into it pretty easily.
there are about 8 main genres of electronic music, and an infinite number of subgenres underneath them.
anyway, one of the more r&b-ish genres is "UK Garage", also called "2-step". It's essentially a defunct genre now as nobody is really producing it anymore... but during its heyday (about 6 years ago), it was really banging in england and there is a lot of good music from that era to listen to.
artists to check out:
"mis-teeq". this is pretty much a female vocals r&b group, but most of their songs have 2-step beats
"artful dodger". if it wasn't for artful dodger, craig david wouldn't even have a career. david got his start doing guest vocals for artful dodger tracks
"mj cole". one of the top producers of the time, his beats are always very tight, and his songs are very funky/soulful
"so solid crew". while the other artists i've mentioned represent the mainstream side of uk garage, so solid crew represents the more raw, underground side. there were plenty of acts like this back in the day, but so solid is the most well known of them. it was a huge group of DJs and MC's, so if you're able to track down any of their albums you'll hear plenty of rapping over the music. very cool, if you can get over their british accents :D
if you want an example of a song that is 2-step that i know everybody has heard, it's Daniel Bedingfield - "gotta get through this"... this song was popular in the UK garage scene about 2 years before it ever got to america.
if you need more to check out after that, i would also recommend house music. specifically funky or disco house... there are some incredible songs in that genre, and plenty of female diva vocals too :) that's the style that i DJ, because it's INCREDIBLE to dance to in a packed club when everybody is getting into the music & there is so much vibe :thumb:

What we used to be called. Interestingly, we had a track 'Phosphor Sky' featured in the sound track for Project Gotham Racing 3 on the XBOX360, which some of you may have.

Since this has been bumped, just thought I'd add that as a result of our last gig we're now playing at the Oh! Bar on Camden high street on a friday (should be packed), so I'm pleased with our progress after two gigs.

Thanks a lot. I think a clip of the track (if you don't have the game) can be listened to on the band's old website still: (

It's called Phosphur Sky.

Haven't listened to everyone's stuff, but I'm getting around to it. Hope I'm not too late to the party...because I happen to be in an AWESOME band....and by "in an awesome band" I mean that I "make silly pop-songs on my computer and then post them on a myspace page where my friends and I pose as a band".
If you want to have your life affirmed, we'd appreciate you checking it out!

Heh, thanks man. I thought the last minute and a half of "Persona non grata" was especially cool.
