"Joseph Pevney, who directed some of the best-loved episodes of the original "Star Trek" television series, has died. He was 96.
...
Pevney directed 14 episodes of the 1960s series, including "The City on the Edge of Forever," in which Capt. Kirk and Spock travel back in time to the Depression, and "The Trouble With Tribbles," in which the starship Enterprise is infested with cute, furry creatures."
Well, so long. He sure prospered and lived long...
I think I've see about 20-25 episodes of the classic series (It's not popular in France) and the two cited are indeed my favourite of that lot.
Although I'll admit I also post this to enrage Brian T.

I'm deeply saddened by this passing. I felt like Joseph Peavy was part of my family. We've lowered our flag to half mast and covered all the windows with black trash bags. I've shaved my head and am currently typing this while sitting naked in a pile of ashes. I never met him, but words can't express my grief.

I grew up on star trek, those episodes are true classics. Sad sad day. His memory shall live on through those episodes.

Believe it or don't: One of the episodes was the cause of a love song I wrote some years ago.
It's on my first CD "Dusty's Attic". One line that Spock used when addressing his bride to be: "Ever parting. Never parted." Stuck with me and ended up the theme of the song.
I still watch the re-runs. They may be old and moldy but they are still great entertainment.

Yup, truly an innovator--who else could have thought up swirling around some glitter in a jar? Sad day...truly...
While on that subject, I simply refuse to let these things die the horrible death they should:

Now I want to watch Star Trek. :(
So sad... I loved the Tribbles episode.

96 year old, screw me side ways, I sure wish to last that much.

This thread made me think "shit, McCoy's dead"
but he's already dead, Jim. :(

A big brown beaver perhaps. Careful they bite.
I don't remember this dude but when I visited a buddy we jumped around on those boulders where they filmed the other world scenes and threw rocks at each other going
dun dun dun da dut dut da dut da. Some outlaw hidey hole desert place. Does that count for remorse?
Jennie&Tim on 31/5/2008 at 03:43
No, Tocky, that's not remorse; that's boys playing, which is also a fine thing. It could be considered a tribute, however.
I loved the old Star Treks, never did get into the newer ones as much.
The best tribble substitute is a guinea pig. They can get pregnant the day they give birth, which, as a mother, makes me cringe. For multiple reasons.
