http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif although for some reason i thought IRQ was 7 . . .hmmm. oh well, i'll reinstall after work today & get back into the gaming goodness

The original versions of the Sound Blaster and SB Pro cards defaulted to irq 7, but since that was already the default for the printer port, it was switched to irq 5.
Oh, and to add to the previous post, SB16 cards also have a 16-bit dma setting, which defaults to 5.

Hey ShadowJack, thanks for the help with the sound config . . . now any suggestions for joystick issues? i'm running a MS Sidewinder (if only Thrustmaster was still making affordable quality joysticks like the FCS Mk I . . instead of trash like the Millenium Inceptor . .but i digress). i've tried running it in the config as "0", "1", and "2" (Standard, Flightstick Pro, Thrustmaster). No joy. my view is WAAAY up in the sky and i cant bring it down. any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
thanks

Thank you very much. I had almost given up seeing TN ever again.
That Tsr did the trick.
I owe ya one.

Ho-hum. Anyone ever got and managed to fix the error that merrily produces...
Crash code: 4142
...and a whole lot of data that bares frightning resemblance to a DOS version of BSOD?

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifThe graphics and sounds work perfectly in the setup and during it, and the game did work on my brother's system [almost the only difference between our systems from the game's point of view is that he has a TNT card, whereas Ihave a GeForce2MX one, but since the graphics DO work in the setup...].
Annoying. Such a good game and cannot continue it due to this.

I have a Compaq 5461 with a Pentium 500mhz.
I have no idea what video card I have, 'cuz it's one of those motherboard deals. I am really sorry that I don't have much more information about this computer, but Compaq has never been much for telling their customers how to use their computers. Go figure.
Anyway, Terra Nova installs perfectly. If I do install univbe, I hear sound, but I don't see anything. If I don't install univbe, I see the title screen menu, but when I click on something, nothing happens. I can still move the mouse, but nothing else happens except for an EXTREMELY gradual dimming of the picture. I really would like this game to work, but I am all out of ideas. Please help??
UPDATE: I found the specs on my video card...
SiS 530
Integrated 2X AGP 3D Graphics
Integrated 64-bit hardware-accelerated 3D graphics
MPEG full-motion video playback
Maximum non-interlaced resolution of up to
1024 x 768 (when supported by monitor).
