Who the hell is this guy?
Myoldnamebroke on 11/2/2006 at 23:59
He's that miserable thief we've heard so much about
That Miserable Thief on 12/2/2006 at 00:32
I'm the one telling you how it is.:)
Rug Burn Junky on 12/2/2006 at 00:37
No, you're actually just some loony Steelers fan who's being just as blindly loyal and irrational as our friend Oneiro.
Probably even more obnoxiously so.
That Miserable Thief on 12/2/2006 at 01:46
Right. Believe as you wish, but that doesn't change the truth. I've heard it all this week, and have become increasingly disgusted by the common lack of knowledge of the rules of the game, and the clueless slamming of the officials - WHO MADE THE RIGHT CALLS - and the Steelers. Neither team played well, but the officiating had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. The penalties were validly called on players that broke the rules in the rulebook. Of course penalties have an impact on the game, as they should. BUT, the officials didn't just make this stuff up. The OPI, the hold, even the PF call on Hasselbeck were all legit, though I think the PF (cut block) rule is a bad rule.
Care for visual evidence?

Yeah, this is a Steelers fan site, but the proof is in the pictures.
If officials aren't there to enforce the rules, what are they paid to do? Not enforce them? That seems rational.
Calling my blindly loyal when you don't know me is pathetic. Not comprehending the rules of the game and using your flawed point of view to belittle me is even more so. If you want to become enlightened, get your head into the rulebook and review the game. If you want to remain ignorant while acting superior, do nothing. You have it covered.

Didn't your side .. win, and stuff?
I'm a bit confused, that usually results in some kind of happiness. IS THIS ONE OF THOSE 'DIFFERENT IN AMERICA' THINGS I HEAR SO MUCH ABOUT?
Myoldnamebroke on 12/2/2006 at 12:08
Unless not reading before posting is one of those differences too, I think we can chalk this one up to the man himself rather than the transatlantic divide.
Paz on 12/2/2006 at 14:28
I suppose he did advertise his misery beforehand.
Rug Burn Junky on 12/2/2006 at 18:13
Yeah, dude, did you even read the fucking thread?
I actually agree with you for the most part, and I still think you're being a dick and twisting the facts.
Guess you're just bitter about the fact that, even though they won, no-one is ever going to respect the Steelers as champions this year. So like, if you're that fucking insecure about it, run along to your monosyllabic brethren and cry about it into your Terrible Towels.
Because we don't give a shit.
That Miserable Thief on 13/2/2006 at 04:57
I have read/heard unending nonsense all week in various media about the "bad" officiating, and I posted here with that frustration. Sorry for going over the top, as I misdirected my frustration. And no, I didn't read the whole thread, I responded to a few posts in a general way in an effort to address the "ref's sucked" sheep. My mistake.
You can think I'm twisting the facts all you like, but that doesn't mean I am. If you cared enough to find out, you'd know I am not. Obviously it's easier to have your mind made up without worrying about knowing the facts.
My bitterness is derived from the ignorance and/or bias that are the basis of the conspiracy/"ref's sucked" crowd. The game was poorly played by both teams' offenses. Seattle made more mistakes and committed more fouls, for which they were rightly penalized. Seattle lost the game as much as the Steelers won it.
Respect them or not, they are the 2005 champions, and I am not one bit insecure about it. They are the first sixth seed to ever win it all, beating the #1, 2, and 3 seeds in the AFC on the road in the playoffs in dominating fashion, and finishing up by winning an ugly game against the #1 seed of the NFC in the Super Bowl. Nothing will change that.
And nothing, not even the facts, will change the minds of those who are running down the officials for the calls that were made.
BTW, very clever to use the "cry into your Terrile Towels" line. That was quite original.
