Pittsburgh's going to the Super Bowl!
If the Stillers don't win this little sporting contest, this town is going to commit collective suicide. The South Side tonight was 20 blocks of honking cars, drunken yobs in jerseys blocking traffic, and police struggling to contain the crowds and enforce the 2 am bar closure law. If the Stillers do win, there's not a couch safe from lighter-wielding yinzers.
Steelers 21, Seahawks 10

If you're putting money down, you better reverse the score.

I'm rooting for Pittsburgh, just cos they're closer to where I used to live. So, erm, are they any good?

Yeah, I have money on the Seahawks.
Not that I necessarily think they'll win, but you can get 17/10 about Seattle, and just 3/5 on Pittsburgh. And in a two-horse race that I believe is too-close-to-call, I'm taking those odds.

Voting Seahawks. Come on, SEAHAWKS - at the risk of being a traitor to Thief-ey sounding things, that blows away 'Steelers' (some kind of terrible pun?) It's some real cross-elemental stuff; they're HAWKS in the AIR but they can also go UNDERWATER.
That's just awesome.
Seahawks by five points. OH YES.

To hell with the football game, the puppy bowl is airing now on animal planet, featuring a kitten halftime show. Everyone wins with the puppy bowl!

The quintessential city of the '80s vs. the quintessential city of the '90s fighting to be the best of the mid-2000s. Pfft, they're both has-been cities.*
My loyalties are divided between being (newly) North-Eastern vs. being on the coast & having lived on the Pacific ... tough call. Pro-football is always tougher than college for me to know whom to root for (except for my old home team the Cowboys). You'd think proximity should trump, meaning I should support the Steelers on this one -- just as it demands I get excited about the Jets :erg: -- and I think that'll be the norm where I'll watch it so I'll probably be cheering for them w/ everyone else, but I'll enjoy the game whoever wins since I like Seattle too, esp if it's a close game. My instinct is pushing me towards Seattle, though, so that's my prediction.
* coming from someone who's never been to either. That's obviously a joke; I like both cities.

That's nothing, the BBC just covered the Animal Winter Olympics! Featuring such highlights John Motson getting overexcited as Team Canada beat some polar bears at ice hockey, and a bad CGI musk ox losing out to a penguin in the cold endurance event.
