I am getting very frustrated. Thief Gold was working just fine earlier today. Now when I try to run it, the little blue circle next to the cursor pops up for about a second, then it goes away and Thief doesn't start. I've tried restarting my computer, to no avail. Nothing has changed since earlier today when I played it.

By the behavior you are describing, it seems that the game is running into an error that is preventing it from starting. Have you changed anything in your game install since this started happening, such as any configuration files or adding mods? It would be easier to diagnose if you could show us your "Thief.log" file in the game's directory. This file records the parameters the game is starting with.
