i am a master right now and i just got my skill to 80 to go to magister and he keeps saying i have foresworn the title of magister... i dont get it what did i do wrong?

What'd you do wrong? Nothing, really; it's a bug on unpatched versions of the game. Unfortunately, if on an XBox you (of course) can't patch. When you can advance to Master, Aryon's supposed to make you choose between being a Master and being a Magister. Unfortunately, he doesn't (The patch make it so you can say "oops, I didn't mean that"). There's probably a way to get Magister w/out the patch if you have a save from before you got Master, but I'm at work (no Editor); I'll look it up when I get home (unless someone beats me to it).

When you do the 'Find a Mouth for yourself' quest you will automatically rise one rank upon it's completetion - regardless whether you fulfill the requirements for that rank or not. You can do the quest at either Spellwright (6th) or Wizard (7th) rank, since Master is the 8th rank you can end up becomming a Master without being presented with the choice (ie. if you solve the quest at Wizard rank). Solution : Solve that quest at Spellwright rank (ie. don't choose promotion while at that rank or you'll end up in your current situation).

*chuckle* A few things're wrong with that statement...
1) I'm "Forsythe", that's all; the "almighty" bit was funny for awhile but c'mon, really now, its old :p
2) WK's been giving me grief for awhile now ;) He provides a much-needed counterpoint to my own over-present self ;)
3) He's not the only one ;) (and I thoroughly appreciate every time I'm corrected on details; each time means one fewer confused player, IMO)

I have the game saved before i do the job but i am at the rank of wizard. Is there still a way that i can get to arch-magister. This is really going to suck if i can't.

One thing that comes to mind is doing the quests of all the other Telvanni Masters (including Baladas Demnevanni's quests) if you haven't yet; that has a good chance of letting you 'advance' and triggering Aryon's "choose your new rank" dialogue. Ditto to the Mouths' quests.
If you've done all of 'em... well, you can set yourself back a rank if you're on the PC like so:
PCLowerRank Telvanni
(Otherwise, you may be hosed)
